What's new with the iPhone 16?

  • New A18 and A18 Pro chips
  • Massive focus on new AI-integrated features
  • 48MP "Fusion" camera
  • Physical camera control function
The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro signify considerable advancements over their predecessors. With the introduction of the A18 series chips, specifically designed for enhanced AI capabilities, alongside upgraded camera systems, these devices present a wealth of appealing new functionalities.

To begin with, the A18 series chipsets introduce 'Apple Intelligence', a comprehensive suite of AI features integrated across the entire spectrum of Apple applications. This includes language models akin to ChatGPT for composing texts or emails, tools for generating images and emojis, and a novel 'Visual Intelligence' application reminiscent of Google Lens.

Regarding hardware enhancements, the iPhone 16 series not only incorporates new chipsets but also boasts an upgraded camera system, which includes a new physical control button that interacts directly with the camera application. Apple has branded the new 48MP main camera as the 'Fusion camera', capable of effortlessly transitioning between high-resolution images and more storage-efficient options, in addition to offering stereoscopic capture for Apple Vision Pro.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with slightly larger displays measuring 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively, featuring narrower bezels compared to their earlier models. This year's primary enhancements for the Pro variants include the capability to record 4K video at 120FPS, ideal for slow-motion footage, along with the standard 48MP wide-angle lens and a 5x telephoto lens (12MP and 2x on the regular iPhone 16).
