Demonte Colony Movie Review
Synopsis: A spontaneous decision leads four friends to explore a haunted mansion, unaware that they have unwittingly brought back a malevolent spirit, making their escape potentially unattainable.
Movie Review: Demonte Colony begins in a seemingly innocuous manner for a horror film, as it introduces its four main characters through individual scenes that effectively convey their personalities. Raghavan (Sanath), an aspiring filmmaker, attempts to pitch a horror story to a producer, who instead requests a comedy. In a pointed reference to a well-known actor, the producer suggests a film devoid of a coherent plot, where the protagonist and the comedian engage in continuous dialogue, leaving the audience uncertain about who the true hero is. Sajith (Abhishek) is portrayed as an electrician struggling in life, while Vimal (Ramesh) works as a graphic designer. Additionally, Srini (Arulnidhi) offers companionship to Jillu, a married woman, for financial compensation, though their relationship remains platonic.
Driven by misplaced courage, the four friends venture into a decrepit mansion located in Demonte Colony, a site infamous for the brutal murder of a lord's servants by their master after his mentally unstable wife becomes pregnant during his absence. Initially, they emerge from the mansion unscathed, but the following night, unsettling occurrences unfold in their room—such as the television refusing to turn off and replaying their own conversations instead of the inserted DVD; doors and windows that remain locked; and their desperate cries for help going unheard. They soon discover a shocking revelation: one among them has been deceased since the previous night. The reason behind the malevolent spirit's pursuit of them remains a mystery.
While horror comedies are currently popular, debut director Ajay Gnanamuthu's Demonte Colony stands out as a refreshing alternative—a straightforward horror film devoid of unnecessary embellishments (notably, it lacks a female lead). This aspect alone warrants commendation for the director. Although the film does incorporate familiar tropes of the horror genre, its unique execution lends it a distinct atmosphere. The narrative unfolds over two days, with the entirety of the second half confined to a single room, yet the cinematography enhances the storytelling experience.

Best Shopping Apps
Ideal for: A vast array of affordable products readily available.
Details: Temu appears to have emerged unexpectedly as a leading contender in the shopping category on the App Store. Similar to Amazon, it functions as an online marketplace featuring an extensive range of products from millions of vendors. A brief exploration of the app or website reveals an impressive assortment of items priced under $10, many from brands that may be unfamiliar to consumers. At the time of this writing, one notable "lightning deal" on Temu showcased a pair of men's casual cargo pants for only $9.77. However, the durability of such inexpensive apparel is uncertain, and one should anticipate frequent price changes, particularly after a lightning deal concludes.
Temu provides free shipping on the majority of items (though a minimum order requirement may apply), and its website indicates that shipping times can vary from six to 20 days, likely due to many products being shipped directly from overseas factories or warehouses.
Considerations: While low-cost items may be appealing, they often raise concerns regarding quality, potentially resulting in higher expenses over time. Reports of delayed shipments have been widely reported in the media and on the Better Business Bureau's website. Nevertheless, Temu stands as a legitimate shopping platform that has garnered significant popularity.
